Shawdesh Desk: Police on Sunday found bullet-hit body of a youth, who was the prime accused in a case filed over rape of a readymade garment worker in Chattogram at a hill of Anwara in Chattogram.

Anwara police station officer-in-charge Dulal Mahmud said on information went to the hill at Barokhain near Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone and found the body of Abdul Nur, 25.

Police suspected that Nur was shot dead by rivals.

One light gun, four cartridges and three knives were also seized from the spot, police said.

Nur was the son of Abdus Sattar of Bairag of Anwara.

The body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Dulal Mahmud said that Nur was facing three separate cases of smuggling and robbery with different police stations.

According to the case statement, the rape victim was returning home from her workplace at night on July 3 on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw which had three more male passengers.

The men in the auto-rickshaw abducted the girl and took her to an isolated place near Bairagi union’s China Road and two of them raped her. Nur was the mastermind of the rape incident, the case statement read.

Later, they left the victim beside Chattogram-Anwara road and called the victim’s family and informed them of the incident, the case statement added.

The victim was rescued by her family and was taken to Karnaphuli Upazila Health Complex.

She was later shifted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.
